Finance Department
The Finance Department encompasses the functions of all Grants, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Customer Service, Utility Billing, and Meter Reading. It is responsible for managing all revenues and expenditures of the city. Key responsibilities include overseeing the annual budget process, setting the millage rate, and coordinating the annual financial audit.

All requests for payment through the City’s Accounts Payable department should be Net 30.
The City of Monroe’s Finance Department has received the Government Finance Officers Association award for Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Distinguished Budget Presentation award, and Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for many years & strive to continue to receive each award.
GFOA Triple Crown Winners achievement recognizes governments who have received GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Preparation Award.
