The Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) inducted former Monroe Mayor Knox Bell into the Municipal Government Hall of Fame at the GMA Annual Convention in Savannah on Monday, June 28.
The Hall of Fame honors municipal officials who exemplify the best in public service, and who, throughout their careers, have made extraordinary contributions to their communities and Georgia's cities.
Bell has served the city since 1978 in several positions, including mayor for 12 years, as a commissioner of the Water, Light, and Gas commission, and as director of the planning department. He currently serves as the chief code enforcement officer and director of the code enforcement department.
