On May 1, 2017, North Lumpkin Street will become a one-way street running from East Spring Street to East Highland. If you have any questions, please call the City of Monroe at 770-267-3429.

Combating Mosquitoes

With warm weather comes the nice, long summer days sitting on the front porch with a nice cold glass of lemonade or sweet tea.  That is, until those pesky little bugs that swarm around your head start landing on your forearm and preparing to feast on you.  Oh the love of mosquitoes!  In recent months, there has been talk of mosquitoes and the diseases they carry, particularly the Zika virus.  Zika has been in the news lately because of the effects it causes to unborn babies especially those who live in countries with warmer, tropical climates.  Mosquitoes can't be totally eradicated, but there are things we can do to help prevent them from spreading and multiplying.  Read the info-graphic below to learn how to stop the spread of mosquitoes.
