The Walton County Utilities Coordinating Committee (Walton County UCC) meets every fourth Wednesday, January through October. The Walton County UCC is composed of local utilities and contractors that work in and around the Walton County area. The goal of the Walton County UCC is to promote and foster safe working conditions while reducing the number and severity of accidents.
During the monthly meetings, utilities are encouraged to share new and ongoing ways to communicate these projects to the public so as to minimize inconveniences to the public.
The committee also discusses ways to promote safe digging in each community represented by Walton County UCC. Calling the GA 811 hotline before digging can potentially be a lifesaving phone call. GA 811 coordinates with local utilities to mark underground gas lines, electric lines, phone lines and other underground utilities to keep those who are digging from potentially fatal accidents.
The Walton Co UCC invites all utilities and contractors to attend meetings on every fourth Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Journey’s End Restaurant in Loganville, GA unless otherwise noted.

There are five steps to safer digging, requiring participation from all stakeholder groups:
1. Contact Georgia 811 a few days before digging. Dial 811 or log on to www.Georgia811.com
2. Wait the required time.
3. Locate accurately.
4. Respect the marks.
5. Dig with care.
