GUTA Opens

The Georgia Utility Training Academy (GUTA), an initiative by the City of Monroe Utility Department, has officially opened for business at the Jacks Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Ga. Hwy 83.

GUTA is a facility modeled after Leak City, Alabama ( http://www.leakcityathens.com/about/index.php ) and is the only one of it's kind in the State of Georgia. The mission of GUTA is to provide hands on training to utilities employees on a myriad of subjects such as gas leaks, water leaks, electrical issues, and other real world hazards that utility workers face each day. There will also be some training aids for the Monroe Fire Department at this site in the future.

GUTA will provide training to all city utility workers, and will host classes open to anyone in the Utility field to attend. Please visit thier department page here at www.monroega.com
