On May 1, 2017, North Lumpkin Street will become a one-way street running from East Spring Street to East Highland. If you have any questions, please call the City of Monroe at 770-267-3429.

Movie Filming in Downtown Monroe

The City of Monroe is being transformed into 1960s Hampton, Virginia for the movie Hidden Figures.  Hidden Figures will tell the story of the black female mathematicians who worked as "human computers" that helped America win the Space Race.  Set during the Civil Rights and Cold War Era, Hidden Figures is adapted from Margot Lee Shetterly's book "Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women who Helped Win the Space Race."  Taraji P. Henson is set to star at the main character in the movie, Katherine Johnson, as well as Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae as Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson.  

Filming will take place over the course of the next few days in the City of Monroe.  For road closings and detours please see the information below.  

Court St will be shut down from Broad to Midland:
