Our Condolences

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of retired City of Monroe Police Department Street Monitor Ms. Mattie S. Hill.  She was 83 years of age.

Ms. Hill was employed by the Monroe Police Department for over 30 years.  Many long time residents will remember her walking her daily parking enforcement beat from the old "Police Shack" that used to stand downtown at Spring and Broad, or seeing her handling school crossing traffic at Monroe Elementary School in the mornings.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Young-Levett Memorial Chapel.  The cortege will assemble 12 noon at 115 Perry Street.

Interment will be held in the Monroe City Cemetery on Nowell Street.
