Water and Distribution and Treatment

The City of Monroe Water Treatment Facility is a micro-filtration treatment plant that was built in 2002 and then upgraded in 2012. It was the first plant of it's design in the southeastern United States. The plant currently has a 10.0 million gallon per day treatment capacity. The plant serves about 8,800 customers in Monroe by treating water from the Alcovy River and John T. Briscoe Reservoir. The City of Monroe water distribution system consists of over 241 miles of distribution lines which range in size from 3/4 to 16 inches in diameter and approximately 900 fire hydrants.
