Candlelight Shopping December 9th

The magic and beauty of the Christmas season in Downtown continues into December with extended shopping hours and activities.  On December 9th, join us for carriage rides, marshmallow roasting, photos with The Grinch in the pocket park and more!  Carriage rides are $10 per carriage, marshmallow roasting and photos are free, just bring your own camera.  Make sure to stop in your favorite businesses to check off that Christmas list and stay for dinner at one of our delicious restaurants!

Candlelight Shopping

There is nothing like Christmas in Monroe!  Join us for Candlelight Shopping from 5:00 to 8:00 pm each Thursday in November and December.    Cozy up by our giant fire pit on Court Street to roast marshmallows.  Enjoy dinner, drinks or dessert at one of our amazing restaurants before or after shopping.  You're sure to find gifts for everyone on your list at our downtown businesses.  Different activities will be planned each week so check back often or follow our social media for details!

Veterans Day Celebration

Join us as we pay tribute to the brave men and women who so graciously serve this great nation.  The ceremony taking place at the Walton County Veterans Memorial Park will feature patriotic music and messages from local military and the honorable Jody Hice.

Winter Reading Series - Georgia Writers Project

Georgia Writers' Project (GWP) is happy to announce its Winter Reading Series. The Series will be held at the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts, and will host University of Georgia poet and professor Melisa Cahnmann-Taylor and Georgia Poet Laureate Chelsea Rathburn.  The event will be from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

GWA Marching Bulldog Band Performance

Thursday evening on November 14th, the George Walton Academy Marching Bulldog Band will present "La Danza De Los Toros" at 5:00 pm. To recognize and thank the Walton County community for its support for the past 50 years, the GWA marching band will perform its halftime show in downtown on the Historic Courthouse lawn. Stop by to see the show and visit all the downtown shops for candlelight shopping from 5-8 pm. 

Fire Safety Blowout

Join Monroe Fire Department for the 2nd annual Fire Safety Blowout, Saturday, October 26th from 12:00-4:00 pm.  Fun for the whole family this event includes crafts and inflatable for kids, fire safety information, smoke alarm assistance and so much more.  Come out for free hot dogs and chips with Sparky the fire dog.  

Fall Concert on The Green

Join us for the first Fall Concert on the Green presented by Contractors Co-Op.  Fun for the whole family from local craft vendors and contractor booths to rides and a petting zoo!  Starting at 3:00 the amazing Chris, John, & Scott Band will have you jamming to all the hits, then we will have a special performance by the awesome Noah Teal, finally, we finish up the evening with smooth sounds Mojo Avenue to close your night out. Three food trucks onsite:   Meatballerz, South of Philly, and The Queso Truck.  No food, drinks, or coolers are allowed i

Inaugural Kickin Breast Cancer 5K

Come join the fun while fundraising for Georgia 2-Day Walk for beast cancer. Race day registration is available with t-shirts while supply lasts.  Race begins at 7:30 am starting at the Monroe City Hall located at 215 N. Broad Street.    Awards will be given to Overall M/F, Masters M/F, Grand Master M/F and 3 deep finishers in each age group.
