Join us for a walk through the 5th annual Christmas lights display in Childers Park in Downtown Monroe featuring the Twelve Days of Christmas! We encourage kids to decorate their favorite bike, stroller, wagon, or any other favorite set of wheels to parade through the Christmas lights. The parade will begin at 6 pm in the parking lot behind the Monroe Library. The lights will be on until 9:00 pm nightly through December 31st. This event is free of charge and open to kids of all ages.
After a reading of a Resolution, the City Council of Monroe voted on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, to change the name of the Monroe-Walton County Airport to the Cy Nunnally Memorial Airport. This name change was made to honor the late Jason Cyrus ‘Cy’ Nunnally who passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, after a single-engine plane crash.
The Resolution as passed unanimously by the Monroe City Council for submission to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reads as follows:

Join us at our annual blowout parade & pep rally Thursday, August 22nd at 6:00 pm in Downtown Monroe! We'll get fired up for football season with our cheerleaders and bands and get to meet our local football players. Parade begins at 6:00 on Broad Street, followed by the pep rally on Court Street.
The City of Monroe will be accepting Bids to contract services for the installation and relocation of electrical distribution lines. All submittals should follow instructions as detailed in the Invitation to Bid and be complete in scope as requested by the City of Monroe. Bids are to be submitted no later than September 16, 2019 at 3:00 pm (EST).
Come out and network with your Monroe Police Officers on Tuesday August 6, 2019 in Pilot Park (515 Church Street) for National Night Out. This program is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
